Varinder Walia is a much-talked-about signature in the Punjabi Journalism. He is also a literary figure. More than a dozen of his books have been published.
He also writes in English but basically he is a Punjabi writer. He earned great fame as the Editor of the two prominent dailies ‘Punjabi Tribune’ & ‘Punjabi Jagran’.
For the last 10 years, he has been the Editor of ‘Punjabi Jagran’. “Tankhahiye” is his popular book and his column “Harf Hamesh” continues to be very popular.

Varinder Walia was conferred Shiromani Sahitik Pursakar 2015 (Award) by Punjab Language Department.
S. Jaspal Singh, the then Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala presented the prestigious award.
ਵਰਿੰਦਰ ਵਾਲੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ‘ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ 2015’ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਸ. ਜਸਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੱਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਣਮੱਤਾ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਭੇਂਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
Varinder Walia’s prose is soul-shaking. He thinks deeply in his soul and then conveys that thought with his beautiful sentences and poetry of all times of Punjab. In this way, he makes the mention of a contemporary issue timeless and that writing becomes eternal due to his literary style and deep thinking.
